About Me

Hi. My name is Björn Jacob. I live together with my wife in Jena, Germany. In 1999 I created my first website. 1,500 pages for 1,500 Deutsche Mark. In 2003 I became part of the TYPO3 community and implemented my first TYPO3 project with version 3.5. In 2014 I was at a sprint for the first time. We worked on typo3.org for four days. Since this sprint at the latest, I have fully arrived in the community. Since 2016, I've been actively involved in core development and am the lead of the Form Framework Initiative. For many years I've been hopping around TYPO3Camps and have the honor to co-organize the TYPO3Camp Mitteldeutschland. TYPO3 has made me what I am. I adhere the open source idea and I am thankful for all the wonderful and encouraging conversations with the community. Thanks to TYPO3 I was able to build up TRITUM as a successful agency of almost 30 people.

My motivation

For many years I have accompanied the development of TYPO3 as a product. I grew with TYPO3 and have the pleasure to implement enterprise projects with this reliable CMS. Especially through my work in sales I learn a lot about the needs of the market and the features and roadmap of other systems. I would like to bring all this experience from my analyses and concepts into my work for the Board of the TYPO3 Association.

Currently I see several problems in the TYPO3 ecosystem:

  • there is uncertainty about responsibility
  • there are uncertainties about the distribution of budgets
  • there are uncertainties about the strategic development of the product

There is also the desire of the community to have more influence on the development of the product.

I would like to work with the appropriate participants in the ecosystem to address these issues and desires. I would like to help implement or communicate appropriate solutions. I want to mediate between participants and engage with all participants to learn as much as possible about the needs of our community and market respecitvely. I want to look at Association and Company communications with a clear and unbiased eye to mirror the community's perception. In this way I hope that the uncertainties in the TYPO3 ecosystem will dissolve and our community will feel that TYPO3 is a safe and sustainable investment.
