Hi! I’m Daniel, IT entrepreneur since 2003 and firm believer in the power of Open Source and of tech communities to shape a better tomorrow for all of us.
I also believe that TYPO3 is a fantastic technical solution, that our Community shares great values, and that we together have a global mission: to help tech communities all over the world to access opportunities using TYPO3, collaborate and integrate.
Since 2010, I’ve started promoting TYPO3 in my country Romania by speaking at conferences and organizing the national community. In 2013, I started the “TYPO3 East Europe” international event, which had seven editions and brought together many TYPO3 developers. In 2020, during the pandemic, I organized the “TYPO3 International Meetup Days”, a virtual event that brought participants from 40 countries and speakers from 5 continents.
In 2018, I started coordinating the new “TYPO3 Community Expansion Committee” of the TYPO3 Association, which aims to accelerate the global adoption of TYPO3. Since then, two new countries have already implemented TYPO3 as their national standard for the public sector ( Rwanda and Somalia), we’ve conducted a global TYPO3 Mentorship program that supported developers from 8 countries where TYPO3 was previously unknown to take the first steps with our CMS and we have engaged many governments and international organizations, so we expect new countries to officially adopt TYPO3 this year.
Through the effort of our committee members, TYPO3 became the endorsed CMS solution of GovStack Global, an ambitious project started by the UN International Telecommunication and GIZ to support governments in their digital transformation journey.
TYPO3 is an integral part of the ARXIA business, my company, and my activity as a consultant in digital transformation for the government and public sector.
I have extensive experience in developing and launching digital products and in expanding internationally, so far establishing companies on 3 continents and developing an extensive network of relevant contacts, from governments, international organizations and associations.
I believe that it is time to step up my strong commitment for TYPO3 and to get involved as Board Member in the long term product strategy of TYPO3, the funding of our project, the growth of our community and of the involvement of the Association members.
Global market, global opportunity:
I firmly believe that our Association members can benefit more from the growth of the global market for TYPO3. I want to support our European members to actively pursue and access opportunities at the international level, especially since TYPO3 will be adopted more and more by governments and by important corporate actors.
Global community, global Association:
As the adoption of TYPO3 expands, we still have only few members from outside the DACH region, although there are TYPO3 agencies and developers in many other countries. We need to take an active role in identifying the agencies and projects and to support them in seeing the benefit of joining our Association and of being active in the community. Our project is global, our community should be as well.
TYPO3 Association as a strategic actor in the global development cooperation:
TYPO3 has developed a model for the standardization of the government websites. Germany adopted it and more countries are following this path. We support more than the adoption of a technology. We stand for a sustainable and evolutive approach to the websites of the public sector and to fostering local tech communities and opportunities for them. In many ways, we are acting in a similar way as a development cooperation agency that supports foreign governments to improve the governance and the quality of life of their citizens. We should embrace this role openly, because we are genuinely writing history.
More involvement, more engagement, more reward:
I know for a fact that being active in a Team or Committee of the Association is extraordinarily rewarding, as the more you contribute, the more impact you make. We should emphasize more that investing our time into the community work really opens up new perspectives for each of us, and for the agencies that support us to give the time. We can turn each committee or team into a real engine of innovation and initiative, and I’d love to work more on that as a Board member, if you would support me!
